Rockmart Farmer's Market
The Rockmart Farmers Market- "Growing community one seed at a time"- will kick off its annual farmer's market season, Thursday May 1st with fun for all ages. The first 100 visitors will receive a free tomato plant to take home for their garden, live music will be provided by Scott Warren and Charles Span and a Maypole will be erected for the children to dance around in celebration of spring. Visitors will find fresh, local vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, honey, preserves, homemade soap, baked goods, plants for home gardening and much more throughout the market season.
The Rockmart Farmers Market is a "producer-only" market supporting only local farms located within 50 miles of Rockmart. Located under the oak trees next to the Silver Comet Trail head in downtown Rockmart, the market is open every Thursday May 1st through November 21st, 3:00- 6:00pm. The Rockmart Farmers Market is proud to announce that we will again be accepting and doubling SNAP. SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) recipients may bring their EBT cards to the farmers market to obtain tokens which may be used to purchase from any vendor. The amount of tokens received will double the amount of money specified by the customer allowing the customer to bring home twice as much food as could be obtained elsewhere. Snap recipients should first visit the market information booth to receive tokens before purchasing items.
The Rockmart Farmers Market is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health of our community by increasing access to locally grown and produced foods; to increase knowledge of fresh food preparation and preservation; to increase the capacity of our local food system by providing support to local food producers; to preserve and promote the food and farming heritage of the Rockmart area.
