Job Description

Job Summary

This position provides assistance for the college’s controllership functions, including directs, coordinates, and oversees the institution’s financial system management, payroll, accounts payable, asset management, and plant fund accounting.


  • Oversees the direction of the following areas: General Accounting, Financial Reporting, Compliance, Grants, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Travel, and Assets
  • Assists Controller with the preparation of internal and external financial reporting and reconciliations, including the integrity of those reports
  • Maintains the general ledger including review and approval of all journal entries and supporting analysis/documentation
  • Reviews the asset management system including reconciliation to review accuracy
  • Prepares financial reports, including 10 year cash flows, for the college’s PPV lease
  • Interprets and implements policies and procedures, while assuring compliance with federal, state, and  local board policies regulations and laws
  • Screens, interviews, coaches, and provides leadership, direction, and motivation to direct staff; appraises performance; provides performance feedback; takes corrective actions and oversees training and development of staff
  • Supervises the general accounting function of the college, including monthly closeout procedures, yearly closeout procedures, billing of grant expenditures, and day-to-day operations


Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Knowledge of Board of Regents policies in regards to the processing of payments
  • Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority
  • Skill to make timely decisions
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
  • Skill in oral and written communication

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
  • 3-5 years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree and three to five years of related experience; an equivalent combination of experience and education is acceptable.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
