Job Description

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing accurate advising information to Georgia Highlands’ students at multiple Georgia Highlands College locations.


* Provides advising to Georgia Highlands students, including new, returning, change of major, continuing, transfer post-baccalaureate, and transient students

* Assists students with adds, drops, withdrawals, and hardship withdrawals

* Assists students with transfer evaluations, curriculum substitutions, college prep curriculum, and learning support deficiencies

* Refers students to Financial Aid, Student Support Services, expert advisors in the field, Registrar, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Business Office, Admissions Office, and other colleges

* Assists students in the development of career plans

* Assists students in the determination of grade point averages

* Assists students in locating required examinations for specific programs

* Registers students with academic holds, those who experience computer generated prerequisite blocks, those approved for overrides, and those who are unsure or unclear about their registration skills; assists those on academic aid recommendation or probation; assists those who have been dismissed

* Attends new/transfer student orientations; delivers division orientation as needed; assists students in the interpretation of advising transcripts; refers students to Financial Aid or Registrar for financial aid/transfer questions

* Reviews transcripts for possible errors in registration

* Attends training and meetings on as requested

* Serves on search committees as requested

* Travels to other GHC locations to assist with advising and orientation

* Performs related duties

Required Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree and 1-2 years of related experience.

Proposed Salary

$34,000 - $35,500
