Reference & Instruction Librarian
|Job Description Summary||
The Georgia Highlands College Libraries seek a highly-motivated Reference and Instruction Librarian with strong interpersonal and teaching skills and a demonstrated commitment to superior customer service. The successful candidate will participate as an integral member of the library team across all GHC locations, with a focus at the Floyd Campus Library in Rome, GA. The position is a full-time 12 month non-tenure track faculty appointment.
The candidate must have: an ALA Accredited Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science; exceptional teaching skills with a focus on information literacy; strong web page creation skills; knowledge of integrated library automation systems; familiarity with electronic information resources; and a demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
The successful candidate will: provide reference and instruction services in-person and online; create web-based assignment and research guides; develop collaborative ongoing relationships with faculty, students and staff to support teaching, learning and research; assist in collection development; and provide circulation services, including facilitating GIL Express and inter-library loan transactions. This position primarily serves the Floyd Campus of Georgia Highlands College, located in Rome, GA, and may provide as-needed services to other Georgia Highlands College locations.
|Knowledge, Skills and Abilities||
Knowledge of reference and instruction in an academic library; ability to teach effective library instruction classes in an academic setting; strong webpage design and web development skills; current working knowledge of print and online reference sources used in academic libraries; demonstrate familiarity with search strategies for electronic information resources in proprietary databases and general internet searching.
